GROOTE SCHUUR HIGH SCHOOL BAND
Directed by Lee-Anne Fortuin and Ronel Nagfaal
This band was formed in September 2012 (mentored by Lee-Anne Fortuin) and already they have shown such great promise within a short period of time. The band consists of 9 members ranging from the ages of 14 – 17.
They have performed at the Arts and Culture Focus schools live performance workshop, which forms part of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. This was one of the highlights of the year. They have performed at concerts/music evenings held at Groote Schuur high school. They have also performed at the Jazz on the Lawn Festival hosted by St Josephs Marist College this year. This was their first public performance that took place outside of the Groote Schuur grounds, and the response was overwhelming. They obtained 87% for their performance at the annual FACETS competition at San Souci Girls High School this year.
The band has a versatile repertoire consisting of different tunes of different genres, such as local and international Jazz, Pop, House, Contemporary, Reggae & Rock.
GROOTE SCHUUR HIGH SCHOOL VOCAL ENSEMBLE

The ensemble was formed in February 2012. They consist of all vocal studies students who are pursuing vocals as their main practical instrument. The group consists of 13 talented singers.
They have performed at numerous functions that took place at Groote Schuur High School, such as the annual High Tea, Easter services, music evenings and concerts that were held at the school. They performed at the Jazz on the Lawn Festival at St Josephs Marist College this year. They were entered into their first competition at the beginning of the 2nd term 2013, and they won their category at the annual FACETS competition held at San Souci High School.
This versatile group has a repertoire consisting of different genres such as Jazz, Pop and Contemporary.
